Hot, Flat and Crowded
T. L. Friedman
If you read only one book during the rest of your life, read this and don't wait. It provides enough detail to convince anyone that the world can not wait for an energy solution and it explains how we must move now to provide that solution by use of the American innovation and spirit. It also explains what will most likely happen to America if we do not act.

High Wire
P. Gosselin

The book gives an insight into the reality of the economic uncertainty of the families of today concerning jobs, investments, 401K management (or mismanagement), and whether or not we can continue in such an economic environment. This would be my second book to read after Hot, Flat, and Crowded.

Audacity of Hope
B. Obama
If you wonder about what is really behind Barack, you have to read this book and then make your decision. But, do not expect this to be an easy read as his use of the English language made me read a lot of the book twice. I would find myself reading a paragraph and deciding that I needed to try it again to better comprehend what he had said!

Dreams from my Father
B. Obama
I first thought, “why write about a father who abandoned you” but after reading the book, I understood much better where he came from, and more about the culture of where his father came from. I can only hope that Barack can use that insight if he becomes President in order to build the bridges between the societies.

Faith of my Fathers
J. McCain
Interesting that here we have John McCain telling of his background much as Barack did in his book with almost the same title! Of the 2 McCain books, this is best and it tells of the military history of the 3 generations of McCain's.

Hard Call
J. McCain
This book has little to do with John McCain in that it only tells the stories of some very interesting people and their contributions to society. One has to assume that if these people are of importance to McCain, he would hope to be remembered similarily someday.

What Happened
S. McClellan
Fantastic book! Written by G. W. Bush's press secretary, it explains how the organization of the primary race to become President rolled right on into the White House after the election and the effect of the constant campaign process on government. Should tell the next office holder to not make the same errors.

Kaylene Johnson

Short book – 145 pages – about 20 or so are photos. It certainly does tell how she beat the odds, and she certainly did challenge the political system. She, like Obama, won her elections both on her positions, and an incredible set of circumstances where the opposition unexpectedly went down in flames due to corruption issues.
